My Employment Background

After spending my first two post-doctoral years (2001-2003) working at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) at the University of Pennsylvania (directed by Edna B. Foa, Ph.D.), I accepted the position of Clinical and Research Coordinator for the Anxiety and Depression Clinic (directed by Gregory M. Asnis, M.D.) at Montefiore Medical Center. While I was only at the ADC for 1 year (2003-2004), I was a co-investigator on 10 studies, including Depression, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Insomnia, Bipolar I Disorder, Bipolar II Disorder, and Borderline Personality Disorder.

During my next four years (2004-2008) at Montefiore Medical Center, I worked as an Attending Psychologist in the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Department (directed by Charles Ramesar, M.D.). While in the AOPD, I provided individual, marital, family, and group cognitive-behavioral treatments for patients. I also designed and implemented stress management, smoking cessation, worry/anxiety, and insomnia groups - for both patients in the clinic and staff in the department. In addition, I designed and conducted a satisfaction survey for patients receiving services in the AOPD, served as a consultant (conducting needs assessments) to other departments in the medical center, and was an active member of the Grand Rounds Committee.

In July 2008, I was promoted to Director of Quality Management and Development at University Behavioral Associates (UBA). UBA is an innovative managed care company founded by the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center, which manages the behavioral health services for a large population in the Bronx, New York. I worked at UBA until December 2009, at which time I left take on the role of Director of Clinical Training at the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy (AICT) in New York City.

Just as I was getting settled into my new role at the AICT, Montefiore Medical Center contacted me and asked if I would like to return to head up their Psychology Internship Training Program and their CBT Program within the Psychiatry Residency Program. While I loved working at the AICT, this offer was too good to resist, so at the end of November 2010, I said good-bye to my friends at the AICT, and returned to Montefiore Medical Center!

Finally, in July of 2016, I was invited to take on the role of Chief of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center, which I happily accepted, and have been doing ever since!
